PSDKU Jakarta’s Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering Receives Its First Accreditation, Marking a New Milestone in the Expansion of Hasanuddin University’s Graduate Education
The Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering at Hasanuddin University’s Jakarta Campus has officially received First Accreditation status from the Independent Accreditation Agency for Engineering Study Programs (LAM Teknik). This achievement was established through LAM Teknik Decision No. 0200/SK/LAM Teknik/AD/VI/2026 and is valid from June 21, 2026, through June 20, 2028. This achievement marks an important milestone in the development of graduate education at Hasanuddin University while reinforcing the Faculty of Engineering’s commitment to providing high-quality educational services that are increasingly aligned with the needs of society and the professional world.
The Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering at the Jakarta Campus is Hasanuddin University’s first Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU) offered at the doctoral level. The establishment of this program is part of the institution’s development strategy to expand access to quality higher education outside of Makassar while strengthening Hasanuddin University’s academic network at the national level.
The launch of the Jakarta Campus PSDKU for the Doctor of Civil Engineering program was driven by the high demand among Hasanuddin University alumni—particularly those already established in their careers in Jakarta and the surrounding areas—to pursue doctoral studies without having to leave their professional commitments. Through its campus in the capital, Hasanuddin University offers a solution that enables practitioners, academics, government officials, and professionals in the fields of construction and infrastructure to pursue doctoral education while continuing to fulfill their professional responsibilities.
More than just expanding access to education, this program is expected to serve as a center for applied research that contributes to addressing various national development challenges. The field of civil engineering currently faces strategic issues, ranging from sustainable infrastructure development, disaster resilience, the development of innovative construction materials, modern project management, to digital transformation in the construction industry. Therefore, doctoral education plays a crucial role in producing research that not only enriches the body of scientific knowledge but can also be implemented to address development needs.
The establishment of the Jakarta Campus Civil Engineering Doctoral Program (PSDKU S3) is also expected to have a tangible impact on enhancing the academic productivity of the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering, particularly within the Department of Civil Engineering. With an increasing number of doctoral students coming from professional and research backgrounds, inter-institutional research collaboration is projected to grow further, leading to an increase in the number of nationally and internationally recognized scientific publications, expanding research networks, and strengthening the position of the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering as one of Indonesia’s leading centers for engineering education.
As a new program, the implementation of the PSDKU Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering has been comprehensively prepared, ranging from the provision of human resources and the curriculum to learning facilities and infrastructure. The Hasanuddin University Jakarta campus, located at Jalan Petojo Utara VII No. 8, Central Jakarta, is equipped with various supporting facilities such as modern lecture halls, seminar rooms, reading rooms, faculty offices, supporting laboratories operated in collaboration with UNTAR, research rooms, discussion rooms, and other academic facilities designed to support the learning and research processes of doctoral students.
In addition to physical facilities, the PSDKU is supported by tenured faculty members with expertise and academic reputations in the field of civil engineering, enabling them to create a conducive learning ecosystem for the development of high-quality research. The synergy between academics and practitioners based in Jakarta is one of the program’s strategic strengths in producing research relevant to the needs of both industry and the government.
The First Accreditation status granted by LAM Teknik indicates that the program has met the requirements for higher education delivery in accordance with national standards for new programs. In accordance with the provisions set by LAM Teknik, the program is required to apply for follow-up accreditation no later than two years after admitting new students as part of a continuous quality assurance mechanism.
The success in obtaining this accreditation marks the first step for the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering in expanding its graduate education offerings through the Off-Campus Study Program scheme. Following the PSDKU Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Engineering has planned to launch the Master’s Program in Electrical Engineering at the Jakarta Campus, as an effort to provide more options for advanced education to the public and strengthen Hasanuddin University’s contribution to the development of high-caliber human resources in Indonesia.
With the addition of study programs offered at the Jakarta Campus, Hasanuddin University is not only expanding the reach of its higher education services but also building a stronger ecosystem of collaboration among universities, industry, government, and professionals. This initiative is expected to generate innovation, research, and scientific publications that make a tangible contribution to national development while further solidifying the reputation of the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering as an outstanding, adaptive, and globally competitive engineering education institution.
