Toward a Secure and World-Class Study Program Website, the Unhas Faculty of Engineering Holds a Website Development Workshop
Gowa, July 2, 2026 — The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University continues to strengthen its digital transformation through the Workshop on Website Development for the Faculty of Engineering’s Study Programs at Hasanuddin University, held at the Exhibition Hall in the Center of Technology (CoT) Building. This event represents a strategic step in supporting the achievement of Hasanuddin University’s Independent Key Performance Indicator (IKU) point 1.F, namely the development of high-quality, internationally recognized websites and social media platforms. The workshop was attended by website and social media administrators from all departments, the Faculty of Engineering’s Public Relations Team, and the faculty’s website development team.
Advances in information technology have transformed university websites from mere information platforms into the face of the institution, reflecting the quality of governance, transparency, and academic reputation. Therefore, Hasanuddin University, through the Directorate of Information Systems and Digital Transformation (DSITD), has developed an integrated website platform for all study programs within the university.
This workshop featured the Director of Information Systems and Digital Transformation at Hasanuddin University, Dr. Eng. Ir. Wardi, S.T., M.Eng., as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, he explained the procedures for managing the new website, ranging from filling out program profiles and managing menus to publishing news and optimizing the various features available on the new platform.
According to Dr. Wardi, the development of this integrated website is part of Hasanuddin University’s digital transformation strategy, which is not only focused on simplifying information management but also on enhancing the security of the university’s information systems.
“The creation of these study program websites was initiated to improve system security and prevent hacking on the websites. Additionally, with this integrated platform, each study program no longer needs to develop its own website, thereby reducing the budget requirements for development and maintenance in each unit,” explained Dr. Wardi.
Furthermore, participants received technical training on managing the various channels available on the new website. Some of the features introduced included a news channel, navigation menu management, academic program profile creation, academic information, and various supporting pages designed to meet the standards of modern university websites. This platform was also built with a uniform structure so that the digital identity of all Hasanuddin University academic programs would be more consistent, professional, and easily accessible to the public, prospective students, industry partners, and international institutions.
The workshop not only focused on the technical aspects of website operation but also provided an understanding of the importance of presenting high-quality content. The academic program websites are expected to serve as strategic communication platforms that showcase academic achievements, research innovations, student and faculty accomplishments, international collaborations, and the university’s three pillars of higher education in a sustainable manner. Thus, the website serves not only as an information hub but also as a tool for enhancing the institution’s reputation at both the national and international levels.
The holding of this workshop also demonstrates the commitment of the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering to supporting the university’s digital transformation policy. Synergy between the Digital Transformation and Information Technology Directorate (DSITD), faculty leadership, the Public Relations Team, and all program website administrators is a key factor in realizing effective, secure, and adaptive information management that keeps pace with developments in digital technology.
On this occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T., IPM., AER., emphasized that the success of a study program’s website development is determined not only by the sophistication of the technology used but also by each study program’s commitment to managing content sustainably. According to him, a website serves as the face of an institution in the digital age and is the primary source of information for the public, prospective students, partners, and other stakeholders.
“I hope all academic programs will give serious attention to the development of these websites. In today’s digital age, the speed and quality of information dissemination have become key indicators of an educational institution’s professionalism. A website is no longer merely an administrative tool but has become a strategic medium for showcasing the academic capabilities, innovations, and contributions of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University to the broader public,” said Prof. Isran.
Furthermore, Prof. Isran also directed that every piece of published content should not merely document activities or ceremonies, but should also provide information with educational value. According to him, every news article published should offer new insights, disseminate research findings and innovations, and present solutions to various issues faced by the public.
“I want every piece of information uploaded to benefit its readers. Don’t just report that an activity has taken place; also share the new knowledge generated, the innovations developed, or the solutions that can be applied by the community. As a higher education institution, Hasanuddin University has a responsibility to disseminate knowledge and the outcomes of the Tridharma of Higher Education through various media, including the study program’s website,” he added.
These directives reaffirm that digital transformation within the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University is not only focused on modernizing information systems but also on improving the quality of knowledge dissemination. Consequently, the academic program websites are expected to evolve into credible and inspiring centers of academic information capable of strengthening Hasanuddin University’s reputation as a leading institution in education, research, and community service.
The workshop results showed that the program study website administrators have understood how to use the new platform and are able to operate the various available features. These competencies are essential for managing program study information more professionally, efficiently, and in accordance with the standards set by the university.
As a follow-up, the Public Relations Team of the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering will provide guidance and monitor the implementation of the new websites in each academic program. This monitoring aims to ensure that all academic programs begin to optimize the provided platform so that the targets for fulfilling Hasanuddin University’s Independent Key Performance Indicators (IKU), particularly regarding website and social media quality, can be optimally achieved.
Through the development of integrated, secure, and internationally standardized academic program websites, the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University is further strengthening its commitment to providing modern academic information services, enhancing the institution’s visibility in the digital space, and expanding public access to the various innovations, achievements, and scholarly contributions produced by the academic community of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University.
