Unhas’s Faculty of Engineering Becomes a Center for Technology Development
The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University in Gowa will become one of the leading centers for technology development in Eastern Indonesia.
This was acknowledged by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas Gowa, Dr. Ir. Muhammad Arsyad, as part of the vision to make the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas more advanced and outstanding in the field of technology development.
“As Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas, I hope the pace of progress for this faculty can accelerate, particularly in the areas of educational development, research, and community service,” he said.
According to him, the Unhas campus is now well-equipped in terms of facilities and infrastructure after receiving 800 billion in funding to build laboratories and acquire state-of-the-art equipment.
“We also have nearly one hundred faculty members who have earned doctoral degrees. I believe this potential is substantial enough to drive the development of the FT-Unhas,” he explained.
Arsyad also mentioned that during the FT-Unhas new student orientation held on Tuesday, August 14, the Student Affairs Office provided educational materials as part of the welcome program.
Meanwhile, the welcome ceremony for the approximately 1,104 new FT-Unhas students was also combined with the opening of the National Defense Awareness Training (P2KBN), which took place at Campus II of the Unhas Gowa Faculty of Engineering, Jl. Poros Malino Raya, Borongloe Village, Bontomarannu Subdistrict, Gowa Regency.
In front of thousands of freshmen spread across 13 departments or majors, the Dean of the Unhas Gowa Faculty of Engineering, Muhammad Asryad, welcomed the new students.
“Welcome to this truly vast and impressive Faculty of Engineering campus. I hope that our campus will not only be a place to gain knowledge, but let us also work together to ensure it remains a beautiful and high-quality campus that produces outstanding engineering graduates,” he said.
Preserving the campus and upholding academic standards are part of our duty to serve the nation. Therefore, Muhammad Asryad emphasized that synergy between students and faculty is essential.
Separately, the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Mukti Ali, ST, MT, Ph.D., stated that this P2KBN orientation program will
take place over the next five days, from August 14 through August 18.
The agenda for the first day—Tuesday, August 14—includes an introduction to the faculty; August 15 features an introduction to the 13 departments; August 16 covers student organizations; and August 18 is an open campus event.
“So, during this P2KBN program, the new students will participate in a series of activities, and they will not begin their first classes until August 20—two days before Eid al-Adha,” said Mukti Ali.
The atmosphere of the new student orientation was adorned with red and white colors. According to Mukti Ali, this was done as part of the celebrations marking Indonesia’s 57th Independence Day this year.
