IABEE Advocacy Seminar

(Gowa, April 15, 2015) The IABEE (Indonesia Accreditation Board for Engineering Education) Advocacy Seminar, organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dikti) and the Implementation Team of the Independent Accreditation Agency for Engineering Study Programs (LAM-PS Teknik)—in collaboration with JABEE from Japan and ABET from the United States—took place in four major cities across Indonesia: Yogyakarta, Makassar, Jakarta, and Palembang.

In Makassar, the seminar was held at the UNHAS Faculty of Engineering, Gowa Campus. The event was attended by deans, department chairs, and program chairs from engineering faculties across eastern Indonesia, as well as leaders and members of APINDO and KADIN. The event featured speakers from Dikti, IABEE, JICA, ABET, and JABEE.

It is hoped that participation in this seminar will lead to the effective implementation of Higher Education Quality Assurance at universities in accordance with Law No. 12 of 2012 (on Higher Education, which states that program accreditation as a form of public accountability is carried out by an independent accreditation agency) and the Washington Accord.
