Building Bridges to Global Careers: Legacy Inc. Japan Introduces a Construction Training Program for Unhas Engineering Alumni
GOWA, May 4, 2029—The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) hosted a strategic visit from a delegation from Legacy Inc. Japan to promote job training assistance for young alumni (fresh graduates). The meeting, which took place at the Unhas Engineering Campus in Gowa, offered a breath of fresh air for graduates hoping to pursue professional careers in Japan, particularly in the construction sector.
The Japanese delegation was welcomed directly by Prof. Dr. Ir. Salama Manjang, MT., IPM., a Full Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Unhas Faculty of Engineering. He was accompanied by the Student Affairs Manager, Hamzah, ST., MT., along with academic staff members.
In his remarks, Prof. Salama expressed appreciation for Legacy Inc. Japan’s initiative in selecting Unhas as a partner in channeling young talent to the international stage. This program includes alumni from five strategic study programs: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science.
Legacy Inc. Japan CEO Takagi Kensuke, accompanied by Global Talent Division Consultant Fauzy Dwi Cahyo, explained that this program is a work training grant scheme that will be managed through LPK Kizuku.
“We are committed to preparing a workforce that is not only technically skilled but also culturally and linguistically prepared through intensive training,” said Takagi Kensuke.
Although the current quota of 30 spots is quite competitive, enthusiasm among Unhas engineering alumni is exceptionally high; there are already 65 applicants from various departments ready to compete for these positions.
This visit stems from the urgent need for workers in Japan’s construction sector. This presents a golden opportunity for Indonesian graduates, given that Japan’s young workforce is currently experiencing a significant decline (aging population).
The shortage of productive workers in Japan has forced major companies such as Legacy Inc. to seek the best talent from abroad. Unhas Faculty of Engineering alumni are considered to possess competency standards that align with the needs of Japan’s modern construction industry, which is now beginning to adopt high-tech solutions and precise management systems.
