The Faculty of Engineering at Unhas Hosted a Visit from the Indonesian National Defense University for Benchmarking on the Launch and Operation of the PPI Program at Unhan
Makassar, November 20, 2025 — The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (FT Unhas) hosted an official visit from a team from the Indonesian National Defense University (UNHAN RI) as part of a benchmarking activity related to the launch and operation of the Unhas Professional Engineer Education Program (PPI). The meeting took place at the Faculty of Engineering campus and was led by the Dean of FT Unhas, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, ST., MT., who was accompanied by the Head of the PPI Program at FT Unhas, Dr. Eng. Ir. Ilham Bakri, ST., MT.
This visit is part of a series of strategic initiatives by UNHAN RI to prepare for the establishment and implementation of the PPI program within the Faculty of Defense Engineering and Technology. The UNHAN delegation was led by Air Marshal TNI Dr. Ir. Sovian Aritonang, S.Si., M.Si., serving as the First Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Defense Engineering and Technology (FSTP) of UNHAN RI. Accompanying him were Navy Colonel (PM) Dr. Ir. Djamarel Hermanto, Head of the Professional Engineering Program at FSTP UNHAN RI; Navy Colonel (E) Dr. H.A. Danang Rimbawa, Head of the Cyber Defense Engineering Program at FTTP UNHAN RI; and Captain Czi Ridwan, Information Systems and Technology Manager at FTTP UNHAN RI.
In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Isran emphasized that the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas is ready to share its experience, best practices, and academic governance systems that have been implemented in the operation of Unhas’s Professional Engineering Program (PPI). He stated that this mentorship is expected to accelerate UNHAN’s readiness in establishing a PPI program that is credible, adaptive, and meets national standards for the engineering profession. The visit by UNHAN’s academic officials was also highlighted as a crucial step in strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in developing the capacity of engineering and defense personnel.
The discussion session was lively and productive, covering topics such as the PPI curriculum, mechanisms for the recognition of prior learning (RPL), quality assurance systems, and the operational management of the professional program. Following the discussion session, the delegation toured the laboratory facilities and learning resources at the Unhas Faculty of Engineering as part of the benchmarking process.
The meeting resulted in a mutual understanding to continue ongoing coordination and technical assistance to ensure that the launch and operation of the UNHAN PPI program proceed effectively, maintain high quality, and align with the nation’s strategic defense needs.
