Unhas Faculty of Engineering Holds a Social Service Event to Celebrate Its 65th Anniversary: “Together with the Faculty of Engineering, We Care; Together with the Faculty of Engineering, We Share”

To commemorate its 65th anniversary, the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Engineering (FT-UH) is organizing a series of community service activities scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the FT-UH Center of Technology (COT) Building.

These activities carry the theme “Together with Engineering, We Care; Together with Engineering, We Share”, which reflects the Faculty of Engineering’s commitment to strengthening the values of solidarity and social responsibility, as well as providing tangible benefits to the community.

Series of Community Service Activities

For this community service event, the organizing committee has prepared various health services and community activities, including:

  • A blood drive in collaboration with a team of medical professionals.
  • Free dental checkups conducted by a team from the Unhas Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM).
  • Mass circumcision facilitated with the support of healthcare workers from the Bontomarannu Community Health Center.
  • A visit to an orphanage to share joy and provide assistance.

Participants in this event included students from the Mawang Elementary School Center as well as community members living in the vicinity of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering.

Partner Support and Collaboration

This community service activity not only involved the academic community of the Faculty of Engineering but also engaged various partners and institutions. In addition to support from PT Bumi Karsa and Pelindo, the initiative was further strengthened by the collaboration of medical staff from the Bontomarannu Community Health Center and Unhas RSGM, ensuring the program could provide more optimal and beneficial health services.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T., IPM., AER., stated that this social service initiative embodies the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly community service.

“The anniversary is not merely a celebration of age, but a moment to share compassion. Collaboration with community health centers, hospitals, schools, and the surrounding community demonstrates that the Unhas Faculty of Engineering is working together to foster genuine social compassion,” he explained.

The MARANNU Spirit

This initiative aligns with the Unhas Faculty of Engineering’s service ethos, which is grounded in the MARANNU principles (Respectful, Prudent & Wise, Responsive, Trustworthy, Comfortable, Neutral, and Excellent). This philosophy serves as the foundation for fostering a culture of continuous care and service to the community.

Toward the Culmination of the 65th Anniversary

This community service initiative is part of a series of events leading up to the culmination of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering’s 65th Anniversary, which will be held this coming August. A number of academic, athletic, artistic, and social events have been prepared to celebrate the Faculty of Engineering’s long journey as one of the pillars of science and technology development in Eastern Indonesia.

In the spirit of togetherness, the Unhas Faculty of Engineering hopes this community service activity will strengthen its good relations with the community and serve as tangible proof that the university consistently benefits the surrounding community.
