Unhas’s Faculty of Engineering Holds Monitoring and Evaluation Session on Accelerating Studies and MKPK Achievements with the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs

GOWA – The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (FT-Unhas) held a special coordination meeting as part of the Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) of students who did not complete their studies on time for the final semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The event took place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Exhibition Hall on the ground floor of the CoT Building on the FT-Unhas Gowa campus.

The event was attended in person by university and faculty leaders, namely:

  • Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM (K) (Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs at Unhas).
  • Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T. (Dean of the Unhas Faculty of Engineering).
  • Director of Education at Unhas.
  • Director of Educational Transformation and Learning Innovation.
  • Deputy Director for Educational Development and Deputy Director for Educational Administration.

Strategy for Improving Key Performance Indicator 1 (IKU-1) at the Faculty of Engineering

During the meeting, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs emphasized the importance of the Faculty of Engineering’s role in boosting the Key Performance Indicator 1 (IKU-1), particularly regarding the Educational Efficiency Rate (AEE). Based on 2025 data, the EER for the Bachelor’s (S1) level in the Faculty of Engineering stood at 9.42%. This figure remains below the ideal value of 25%.

In addition, monitoring was conducted regarding the reduction in the number of students who did not graduate on time. In the Faculty of Engineering alone, there was a significant decrease of 34.93%, from 2,382 students in September 2025 to 1,550 students in January 2026. The university aims for this reduction to reach at least 80% by August 2026.

Acceleration of Competency-Building Courses (MKPK)

Another key focus of this monitoring and evaluation is the progress of Competency-Building Courses (MKPK) for the class of 2023.

  • Importance of MKPK: Students are required to enroll in MKPK courses to ensure on-time graduation in semesters 7 and 8.
  • Status of FT Students: Currently, the percentage of FT students engaged in activities stands at 63.7%, with 81.2% of those activities verified.
  • Challenge: As of the latest data, no 2023 cohort student in the Faculty of Engineering has completed the full 20 credit hours of MKPK; therefore, proactive measures are needed to prevent them from extending their study period.

Cross-Unit Synergy

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Muhammad Isran Ramli, instructed all Department Chairs, Program Directors (Undergraduate, Master’s, Doctoral, and Professional Programs), and Academic Administrators to immediately update the data. An interactive discussion was also held to find solutions to the obstacles faced in achieving the target for student program completion.

This initiative is expected to ensure that all academic staff in the Faculty of Engineering work in unison to improve the quality of educational services and ensure that students graduate within the standard duration of their programs.
