Head of BBIPHMM Visits the Faculty of Engineering; the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, Hosts a Guest Lecture.

The Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Study Program hosted a guest lecture delivered by Dr. Shinta Virdhian, ST, M.Sc., Head of the South Sulawesi Center for Standardization and Service for the Plantation, Mineral, Metal, and Maritime Industries. The guest lecture took place on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in the 3rd-floor conference room of the CoT Building at the Faculty of Engineering.

The event was attended by the Associate Dean for Research Partnerships and Innovation, Dr. Ir. Rustan Tarakka, S.T., M.T., IPM., Asean Eng.; the Head of the Study Program, Dr. Hairul Arsyar, S.T., M.T.; and faculty members from the Metallurgy and Materials Department. The participants of this guest lecture were 27 students from the first cohort of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Program.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Rustan welcomed Dr. Shinta for taking the time to visit the Faculty of Engineering campus at Hasanuddin University and for her willingness to share her knowledge with the students and all those in attendance. He expressed hope that this would serve as an opportunity for students to gain insights from the material presented.

On this occasion, Dr. Shinta presented a lecture titled “The Role of Metallurgists in Industrial Downstreaming” and explained the career prospects for metallurgical and materials engineering graduates, so that students could understand that such graduates are in high demand, particularly in South Sulawesi.
