The Department of Ocean Engineering at Hasanuddin University is hosting the 2023 National Seminar on Marine Science and Technology
The Department of Marine Engineering at Hasanuddin University once again held the 2023 National Seminar on Marine Science and Technology (SENSISTEK). The 6th SENSISTEK National Seminar was held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the CSA Building, 1st Floor, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, Gowa.
The event was officially opened by the Associate Dean for Research Partnerships and Innovation, Dr. Ir. Rustan Tarakka, S.T., M.T., IPM., AER., representing the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T., IPM., AER., who was unable to attend. In addition, the event was also attended by the Publications Manager of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University, Dr. Eng. Achmad Yasir Baeda, S.T., M.T.; the Head of the Department of Ocean Engineering, Dr. Ir. Chairul Paotonan, S.T., M.T.; the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Jalaluddin, S.T., M.T., and the Secretary of the Department of Marine Engineering, Dr. Hasdinar Umar, S.T., M.T.; the Student Affairs Secretary of the Department of Marine Engineering, Ashury, S.T., M.T.; Retired Professor Prof. M. Alham Djabbar, M.Eng.; all faculty members and academic support staff of the Dept. Marine Engineering, representatives from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, the South Sulawesi Marine Affairs and Fisheries Agency, PT. Pelindo IV (Persero), the Center for Coastal and Marine Resource Management, representatives from the Indonesian Engineers Association, and representatives from the Indonesian Association of Coastal Engineers.
In his remarks, the Associate Dean for Partnerships, Research, and Innovation expressed the hope that this event would enable us to play a significant role in future disaster management. He also hoped this would serve as a discussion forum that could be utilized to the fullest extent possible. Speaking on behalf of the Dean, Dr. Rustan also expressed his gratitude and welcomed the three keynote speakers in attendance, while offering his highest appreciation to the organizing committee for making this event a success.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Department of Marine Engineering also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to everyone involved, particularly the organizing committee of the 6th SENSISTEK, for ensuring the smooth execution of this event.
The keynote speakers presenting at the opening of the 6th SENSISTEK are Prof. Ir. Radianta Triatmadja, Ph.D., Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Gadjah Mada University, followed by Dr. Miftahul Huda, M.Si, Director of Marine Services at the Directorate General of Marine and Coastal Resources (DJPKRL) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries; and Dr. Ir. Wahyudi, M.Sc., a lecturer in Marine Engineering at the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology in Surabaya.
The theme of the 6th SENSISTEK conference was “The Marine Technology Revolution and Disaster and Emergency Management in Marine Ecosystems.” The Chair of the SENSISTEK Organizing Committee, Fuad Fuad Mahfud Assidiq, S.T., M.T., explained that this theme was chosen because Indonesia is prone to disasters, making it necessary to explore this topic in greater depth.
The 6th SENSISTEK successfully collected more than 70 scientific articles, with over 50 presented. These came from various cities across Indonesia—including Jakarta, Surabaya, Pontianak, Madura, and Pangkep—as well as from abroad, specifically from the University of Technology Malaysia. All of these scientific articles will be compiled as the output for a journal to be published in *Zona Laut* (Sinta 4),
*Maritime Park*, and the *SENSISTEK* Journal.
