The Makassar City Transportation Agency, in collaboration with the Technology Center (Pustekno - CoT), is holding an introductory presentation on the Makassar City Local Transportation System (TATRALOK).

The Makassar City Transportation Agency, together with the Technology Center (Pustekno - CoT), held a preliminary presentation on the Makassar City Local Transportation System (TATRALOK) on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Ground Floor Exhibition Hall of the CoT Building, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University.

The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng, along with other members of the research team, the drafting team, the Head of the Makassar City Transportation Agency, Aulia Arsyad, S.STP, M.Si, and several representatives from the South Sulawesi Provincial Government and the Makassar City Government.

In his remarks, the Head of the Makassar City Transportation Agency—represented by the Head of the Makassar City Traffic Division, Syafran, A.P., M.H.—stated that the previous TATRALOK, developed in 2019, no longer aligns with the current traffic conditions in Makassar City; therefore, we have taken the initiative to undertake a revision.

In this introductory presentation, the Drafting Team explained the plans and methods that will be implemented to realize the Makassar City Local Transportation Master Plan. The background for drafting this Local Transportation Master Plan stems from the increasing use of private vehicles and public mobility, as well as the underutilization of public transportation—which has contributed to traffic congestion on several road segments and, indirectly, increased air pollution. The Drafting Team consists of experts with specialized knowledge in their respective fields, all of whom are affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University.

Through the development of this Local Transportation Framework (TATRALOK), the team will map out the macro-level traffic and transportation network and develop transportation infrastructure and facilities, all of which will be integrated into a single Transportation Framework aligned with the regional development policies of Makassar City. It is hoped that the TATRALOK will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of traffic and integrated macro-transportation management in Makassar.

Prior to this introductory presentation, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Makassar City Department of Transportation and the CoT Technology Center at Hasanuddin University for the development of the TATRALOK.
